PRODUCTION OF SINTERED CUBIC BORON NITRIDE

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a thick-walled sintered material of cubic boron nitride suitable as an abrasion-resistant tool required to have heat-resistance and high hardness. CONSTITUTION:The objective sintered material of cubic boron nitride is produced by preparing a pyrolytic boron nitride compact incorporated with a catalyst for the conversion of hexagonal boron nitride to cubic boron nitride, laminating the catalyst-containing compacts to each other or laminating the catalyst- containing compact to a pyrolytic boron nitride compact free from catalyst and treating the laminate under high-temperature and pressure condition to keep the cubic boron nitride in stable state.
