PURPOSE:To insolubilize and stably fix sericin to a raw silk fiber by treating a raw silk fiber with a treating agent containing glyoxal and glutaraldehyde. CONSTITUTION:Raw silk or silk product is treated with a mixed aqueous solution containing glyoxal and glutaraldehyde e.g. by leaving standing over a whole day and night at ordinary temperature to effect the stable fixing of sericin to the fiber. The fixing effect of sericin can be improved by this process to increase the mechanical properties, strength and elongation and, accordingly, the treated fiber can effectively be used as gut for Japanese harp, fishing line, etc. |
