PURPOSE:To automatically set and reset an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:An automatic fiber setting machine 35 which is provided with a suction nozzle 31 for sucking an optical fiber 12 in the event of a disconnection, stops the driving of a capstan wheel 13 by rising a capstan belt 14, grips the succeeding optical fiber 12 by means of a band 72 and transports the fiber to a take-up wheel is provided. Dancer rolls 21, 22, 23 are provided in the axial direction of an arm 20 to permit the free retreat of supporting rolls 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 from the pass line and to eliminate the intricate winding and setting of the optical fiber 12 with the automatic fiber setting machine 35. The fluctuation in the transportation speed of the optical fiber 12 is absorbed by a let-off dancer 18 which regulates the rotation of a let-off roll 11 by oscillating, by which the tension of the optical fiber 12 is maintained constant and the setting and resetting of the optical fiber 12 in the event of the disconnection are automatically executed without manual labor. |
