PURPOSE: To prepare a herbicidal composition by using a plant structural polymer-degrading enzyme in combination to manifest a sufficient effect even when a using amount of chemical herbicide is reduced. CONSTITUTION: This herbicidal composition includes (A) a plant structural polymer-degrading enzyme, e.g. cellulase, hemicellulase and pectinase capable of acting on a carbohydrate polymer and (B) a chemical herbicide, e.g. glyphosate, imazethapyr, sethoxydim and paraquat in an agrochemical carrier. Papain, etc., acting on a polypeptide is also used as the component A, and, if necessary, a lipid polymer-degrading enzyme (e.g. lipase, cutinase and esterase) is advantageously used in combination. A plant polymer under an outer wax layer of a plant is degraded by exposing the plant structure to the component A, and thereby integrity of the plant is destroyed and the efficiency of the component B is increased. |
