PURPOSE:To prevent various problems arising from printing operations executed without an ink tank being mounted for a recording apparatus main body, in which a recording head and the ink tank are available for mounting and dismounting as a unit while the recording head and the ink tank are respectively attachable and detachable. CONSTITUTION:As an ink tank 1000 that is attachable to and detachable from a head holder 1350 on which a recording head 1300 is fixed is mounted to the head holder 1350, detecting pins 1380 on the ink tank 1000-side and detecting terminals 1360 on the head holder 1350-side come into contact with each other, and thereby electric conduction becomes possible. When ink is existent between a pair of detecting pins 1380, a circuit to be composed of the detecting pins 1380, the detecting terminals 1360 and others is closed, and mounting of the ink tank 1000 to the main body of a recording apparatus is detected therewith. |
