PURPOSE:To perform efficiently starting-up at the initial, period of rotation of a motor and treatment for stopping rotation of the motor by providing a signal generating device detecting rotation of a magnet roll and generating a signal synchronizing with the rotation of the magnet roll. CONSTITUTION:A write period pulse TW which is outputted from a printer control and is a write period for one tune in the main scanning direction, is inputted in the input terminal IN of a 1/P frequency divider 40 (wherein P is the number of magnetic poles of a magnet). The 1/P frequency divider 40 divides the write period pulse TW into 1/P frequency and the frequency-divided signal is outputted from a phase comparator 41 from the output terminal OUT. On the other hand, when a slit of a slit plate fixed on a rotating shaft of a stepping motor 31 is detected by means of a photointerrupter, a phase detector 42 as a signal generating device makes the output signal to be '1'. In addition, when the slit is not detected, the rotational period of the stepping motor 31 is detected by making the output signal '0'. |
