PURPOSE: To provide a camshaft whose irregular shape formed on the shaft before assembling the cam and the shaft can be smoothly and securely made by rolling and which can reduce wearing of a roller (dice) for rolling to make the roller stably used for a longtime. CONSTITUTION: A lubricant is securely retained on the surface of a hollow shaft 1 by applying the lubricant to the hollow shaft 1 with the surface roughness set at a range 10μm-180μm. Consequently the irregular shapes 3, 4 are smoothly formed on the surface of the hollow shaft 1 by the lubricant in rolling.
