PURPOSE:To produce superfine titanium carbide by a solid-phase reaction at a low temp. other than by a gaseous-phase reaction which requires high temp. large reaction vessel, and large heat loss. CONSTITUTION:(1) An aq. suspension consisting of titanium hydroxide prepared from titanium chloride aq. solution and a water soluble org. compd. are dried and heated at 1250-1460 deg.C under vacuum. (2) Titanium suboxide fine powder is mixed with an org compd. solution or a carbon black and heated at 1250-1460 deg.C under vacuum. |
