PURPOSE:To shorten the axial direction dimension of an automatic transmission through reducing of vertical walls for accommodating a hydraulic engagement mechanism and enhance the easiness in works. CONSTITUTION:A low and reverse brake L&R/B is installed at the end of a transmission case 1 and is equipped with a plate 5a coupled with the transmission case 1 side, a plate 5b coupled with a hub 6, and a piston 5c acting hydraulically and engage the two plates. A cylinder chamber 2b accommodating this piston 5c slidably is formed at the end face of a side cover 2. |
