PURPOSE:To obtain a syndiotactic poly-alpha-olefin of a high bulk density in high activity per catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The title process comprises bringing a catalyst comprising a solid catalyst component which is prepared by impregnating an inorganic oxide containing surface hydroxyl groups with a transition metal compound containing asymmetrical ligands and from which at most 5wt.%, based on the transition metal component infiltrated into the solid catalyst component, transition metal component leaches when it is reacted with an organoaluminum compound in a toluene solution into contact with an alpha-olefin at 40 deg.C or below, and feeding the product of contact to the polymerization zone to polymerize an alpha-olefin. |
