PURPOSE:To record a high-quality smooth image free from unevenness in density and color tone by a method wherein in a multipass printing, thinned-out images having a compensative relation with each other are successively recorded in a predetermined area on a recording material using a plurality of block patterns having different arrangements of printing and non-printing pixels. CONSTITUTION:On a printing start instruction, a carriage 1806, which has been disposed in the home position before the start of printing, conducts printing on a paper surface for every divided recording area using (n) multi-nozzles 1901 on a multi-head 1802 while moving in a direction (x). After completing a data printing to the end of the paper surface, the carriage is returned to the former home position and again conducts printing in the direction (x). Before the start of the second printing after the completion of the first printing, a paper feed roller 1803 is rotated in a direction of an arrow to feed paper in a direction (y) by the width of a divided recording area. In this manner, a data printing on a paper surface is completed by repeating a printing action conducted by the multi-head at every carriage scanning (main scanning) and a paper feed (sub-scanning) action. |
