The invention relates to a method of manufacturing duplex and triplex tubes based on zirconium. This method consists in preparing an outer tubular blank intended to form the covering sheath (4) of the tube and an inner tubular blank or core unit which may or may not be internally lined, the said blanks being obtained by machining bars in the extruded hollow-billet state, and then subjecting the outer blank to an extrusion operation with upsetting on a punch (2) and in slipping it over the inner blank to which it is subsequently joined by welding the ends. The invention finds its application in the production of composite tubes with reduced consumption of zirconium, whilst still obtaining good adhesion between the components of the said tube. <IMAGE>
