The invention relates to a machine for cutting a flexible material by means of a cutting wheel (37) rotationally driven by a motor, the said cutting wheel and motor being carried by a cutting head (18) moving horizontally along two orthogonal axes, and rotationally about a tangential vertical slave axis. This machine furthermore comprises a support table covered with a wad into which the cutting wheel (37) penetrates, means (24) for adjusting the depth of penetration of the cutting wheel into the wad, and means for adjusting the horizontal distance separating the tangential vertical slave axis from the axis of rotation of the cutting wheel (37), which means are intended to allow this distance to be adjusted so that the said cutting wheel penetrates into the wad level with a front point of contact situated in the vicinity of the said tangential slave axis.
