PURPOSE:To improve the fitness of a traveller to a ring, and to suppress the end breakage and fluffing, by applying a titanium carbide layer and a titanium nitride layer to the surface of a traveller by chemical deposition. CONSTITUTION:The traveller 1 for a spinnig frame is subjected to the chemical deposition at 850-1,050 deg.C in a gaseous atmosphere composed mainly of e.g. TiCl4, H2, CH4 and N2 to cover the surface contacting with a ring flange with double layers consisting of a titanium carbide layer 2 of 2-20mu thick and a titanium nitride layer 3 of <=3mu thick. The product is hardened and polished to obtain the objective traveller. |
