<p>PURPOSE:To cool a battery with the ambient air taken from the front end part of a vehicle body by using a hollow side frame of a vehicle as an air passage for coiling the battery. CONSTITUTION:An electric vehicle 1 incorporates a battery 5 as a power source disposed in a battery storage chamber 3 and a hollow side frame 12 extending from the front end part to the rear end part of a vehicle body. Further, the side frame 12 is connected to the front and rear parts of the battery storage chamber 3 through the intermediary of an air intake duct 22 and a discharge duct 23, and the inside of the side frame 12 is divided by partition plates 20, 21. The ambient air is taken from an opening 16 at the front end of the side frame 12, and is discharged from an opening 17 at the rear end thereof after it passes through the battery storage chamber 3. Further, sound suppressing chambers 28, 29 are formed in the side frame 13, for absorbing noise generated upon introduction and discharge of the cooling air. Accordingly, without additional provision of a long air-passage, cooling air can be taken from the front end of the vehicle body.</p> |
