PURPOSE:To facilitate processing and location of an outer raceway of a tapered roller bearing, which is to bear the counter-drive gear of an automatic transmission, by locating and fixing the outer raceway with two snap rings to be fitted thereon. CONSTITUTION:The counter-drive gear 213 of an automatic transmission is meshed with a counter-driven gear in bevel form to cause a thrust force to be applied to an output shaft 211, so that a cylindrical hub 15 spline fitted to the output shaft 211 is supported by a center support 17 through two sets of roller bearings 18, 19. The peripheral surface of an outer raceway 61 commonly used to the bearings 18, 19 is polished so as to be fitted by pressure in a hole provided in the center support 17, and location and fixation are made by fitting snap rings 64, 65 in two grooves 72, 73. One of these snap rings 65 is equipped at one end face with a tapered portion, and its fitting prevents generation of play.
