PURPOSE:To obtain a heat-accumulation material having improved chemical stability without lowering the specific heat characteristics by coating the surface of a rare earth metal element, etc., with a rare earth metal oxide. CONSTITUTION:The objective cold-accumulation material is produced by forming a rare earth metal element or rare earth metal compound [preferably a compound of Er, Ho, etc., and Ni, Co, etc.; e.g. a compound of the formula AMz (A is rare earth metal such as Er; M is the above metal such as Ni or Co; 0.001<=z<=9.0 (preferably 0.01<=z<2.0)] in the form of granule or fiber having an average particle diameter or fiber diameter of 1-2,000mum and coating the surface of the granule, etc., with the oxide of the above rare earth metal to a thickness of preferably 0.01-0.2mum. |
