Prodn. of workpiece by super-plastic forming - is carried out simultaneously with bonding on of second workpiece

The hollow workpiece (3) is produced by deep drawing from a sheet metal blank of super-plastic material while at the same time a second workpiece (2) is bonded to its undersurface. The second workpiece (2) is placed on the floor of the die and then covered with a layer of filler material (1). The filler material has a m.pt. which is at a higher temp. than that produced during the super-plastic forming of the workpiece (3). The temp. is then increased to a temp. about 10 deg. above that of the super-plastic forming operation and held at this figure for about 10 minutes. USE/ADVANTAGE - Deep drawing and bonding are carried out in the same operation.
