The first timing element has a longer time constant than the second. The count value of a counter can be recalled by the output signal of the second timing element. The counting direction of the counter can be changed over by the output signal of the first timing element so that the time constant of the second timing element is determined by the recalled counter result. Timing elements are designed as counters.
