<p>A coffee bean transport system for moving beans between a bean hopper (12) and a bean operating system (75) has a housing which defines a bean hopper (12), a bean operating mechanism (75) for operating on beans moved thereto from said hopper, and an auger transporting mechanism (52) operatively connected at one end to an auger drive mechanism (61) and having a distal other end extended to a position near said bean operating mechanism (75). The system also includes a transition means having a housing (40) enclosing a portion of said auger transporting mechanism (52). The geometrical relationship between the various parts of the housing (40) and the relationship between the pitch of the auger transporting mechanism (52) and the average bean size minimises bean jamming and stalling within the system. It also ensures a constant bean density within the flow of beans.</p> |
