A combination of a container and a cap is disclosed which ensures pilfer-proof properties without any impairment. The container has a neck portion on whose outer peripheral surface is formed a male thread and an annular retainer flange located below the male thread. The cap has a top wall and a tubular skirt wall which extends downward from the peripheral edge of the top wall. A broken line is formed in the skirt wall so as to extend circumferentially, and divide the skirt wall into a main portion above the broken line and a pilfer-proof bottom portion below the broken line. A female thread which engages with the male thread of the neck portion is formed on the inner peripheral surface of the main portion. A plurality of retainer flap pieces, which each extend radially inward from a side edge connected to the inner peripheral surface of the pilfer-proof bottom portion and which are spaced circumferentially, are formed on the inner peripheral surface of the pilfer-proof bottom portion. An overhanging flange is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the neck portion a predetermined distance below the annular retainer flange, so as to extend radially outward. Thus, when the cap is firmly fitted onto the neck portion, the lower edge of the pilfer-proof bottom portion abuts against or comes close to the upper surface of the overhanging flange. A plurality of projections are formed on the outer peripheral surface of the neck portion of the container below the annular retainer flange, spaced circumferentially, so that when the cap is firmly fitted onto the neck portion, the free ends of the projections abut against or come close to the inner surface of the pilfer-proof bottom portion. |
