<p>A process comprises the formation, at the surface of the product to be protected, of at least one external coating comprised of a composition containing essentially a mixture of phosphates, silica and alumina belonging to a system P2O5-SiO2-Al2O3, and, after drying, heat treatment at a temperature at least suffi cient to transform the external coating into an insoluble ciment capable of forming a self-cicatrizing invert silica glass. The external coating is formed by spraying with a gun or by brush application of a liquid suspension containing said mixture of phosphates, silica and alumina. Prior to the formation of the external coating, the product may be impregnated internally, in the open residual porosity of the composite material, with a liquid solution of sodium and potassium phosphates.</p> |
