<p>A sheet cutting apparatus comprises an air removing mechanism (M1) and a sheet overlap preventing mechanism (M3). The air removing mechanism (M1) is provided with a aligning device for pushing edges of a stack of sheets (6a), which is placed on a table (4) before being cut, towards a center part of the stack and thereby aligning up the edges of the stack, and a cover member (18) for covering the whole stack on the table such that the whole stack may be hermetically sealed, a pushing device for pushing the stack, which has been aligned up by the aligning device and has been covered by the cover member, from above, and an evacuation device for removing air from a space hermetically sealed between the table and the cover member. The sheet overlap preventing mechanism is provided with a first restriction device (34a-d) for restricting a displacement of a plurality of stacks of cut sheets, into which the stack of the sheets has been cut after the air removing step and which are located adjacent to one another, with respect to a thickness direction of each of the stacks of the cut sheets, and a second restriction device (34e) for restricting a displacement of portions to be cut off from the stacks of the cut sheets, which are located adjacent to one another and are to be further cut, with respect to a thickness direction of each of the portions to be cut off. <IMAGE></p> |
