<p>A refrigerant recovery device (10) for recovering compressible refrigerant from refrigeration system (12). The system includes in serial fluid communication, a compressor (56), a condenser (78), and a means (36) for storing refrigerant. An expansion device (88) is provided in the fluid line interconnecting the condenser (78) and the storage means (36). A four way valve (28) is provided which has one port (1) interconnected with the refrigeration system (12) being serviced, another port (4) interconnected with the suction side of the compressor (56) and two additional ports (2,3) in fluid communication with the means (36) for storing refrigerant. The four way valve (28) may be actuated to recover liquid refrigerant from the refrigeration system (12) being serviced by establishing a first path (20,29,34) from the system being serviced directly to the means for storing refrigerant (36). The four way valve (28) establishes a second path (40,42,52) from the means for storing refrigerant (36), through the four way valve (28) to the compressor (56), the condenser (78), and, through the expansion device (88) where high pressure gaseous refrigerant is expanded and delivered to the storage cylinder (36) to thereby cool the cylinder. The four way valve (28) may be actuated to another position wherein the refrigeration system (12) being serviced is indirect fluid communication with the suction port of the compressor (56) to thereby directly recover refrigerant in vapor state from the refrigeration system (12). <IMAGE></p> |
