PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain high reliability excellent in heat-shock resistance and abrasion resistance, by constituting an abrasion resistant protective film from a closely adhered layer comprising a silicon carbide compound, a main abrasion resistant protective film consisting of a silicon nitride compound and a silicon carbide compound and an antistatic layer comprising a silicon carbide compound. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head has an alumina substrate 1, a glaze layer 2, a heat generating resistor film 3 and electrodes 4, 5. The electrode 4 functions as a closely adhered layer and the reaction preventing layer of the heat generating resistor 3 and the electrode 5 while the electrode 5 functions as a main conductor layer. The main abrasion resistant protective film 6 is formed of a mixture consisting of a silicon nitride compound and a silicon carbide compound and the closely adhered layer 7 for strengthening the close adhesiveness of the heat generating resistor 3 and the electrodes 4, 5 is formed of a silicon carbide compound. An antistatic layer 8 for preventing static electricity generated through the contact of transfer paper and the main abrasion resistant protective film 6 is formed of a semiconductor to lower resistance on the main abrasion resistant protective film 6. |
