PURPOSE:To expand an existing terminal interface section simply by providing an ATM cell multiplexer/demultiplexer section, an ATM cell cell composition/ decomposition section, an existing terminal termination section and also an extension interface section to the existing terminal interface section. CONSTITUTION:Each of existing terminal termination sections 41-4n is connected respectively to ATM cell composition/decomposition section 31-3n the sections 31-3n, are respectively connected to ATM cell multiplexer demultiplexer sections 21-2n and the ATM cell multiplexer/demultiplexer sections 21-2n are connected respectively to a broad band line connection section 2. On the other hand, ATM cell multiplexer/demultiplexer sections 22-2, of extension existing terminal interfaces 12-1n are connected respectively to ATM cell multiplexer/ demultiplexer sections 21-2(n-1) via extension interface sections 51-5(n-1). Then the extension existing terminal interface 12 connects the ATM cell multiplexer/ demultiplexer section 22 to the extension interface section 51 of the existing terminal termination section 11 by using an ATM cell to expand the existing terminal termination section. |
