PREPARATION OF PHOTOSENSITIVE MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To obtain superior exposure visualizability without causing turbidity of the tone of a printing plate in the case of forming a photosensitive planographic printing plate by using the condensation product of o- naphthoquinone-diazidosulfochloride and an aromatic compound having a phenolic hydroxyl group and being little reddish tone. CONSTITUTION:The aromatic compound having a phenolic hydroxyl group and o-naphthoquinone-diazidosulfochloride is condensed in the presence of a basic reagent in an amount of 0.80-1.15 equivalent to the sulfochloride to obtain the photosensitive material which is washed not substantially dissolved by an organic solvent which is soluble in water and having a boiling point of <=100 deg.C and dried at <=35 deg.C. The manufacture of the photosensitive material is characterized by this process.
