NEW MATERIAL:Bacillus sp KSM-635 (FERM P-8872) belonging to Bacillus genus and capable of producing novel alkali cellulase having the following properties. Action, having CX enzyme activity acting to CMS, a beta-glucosidase activity, etc.; substrate specificity, acting to CMS, Avicel, etc.; working pH, 4-12; optimum pH, 9-10; stable pH, 4.5-10.5 when left standing at 40 deg.C for 10min, etc.; working temperature, 10-65 deg.C; optimum working temperature, 40 deg.C; effect of chelating agent, free from influence of EDTA, etc.; effect of surfactant, negligibly small; resistance to protease, strong; molecular weight, 180,000+ or -10,000. USE:A bacterial strain producing alkali cellulase K useful as an additive for detergent for clothes. PREPARATION:The strain is separated from soil collected in Haga District, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. |
