VARIANT NEUTRAL PROTEASE II

PURPOSE:To provide a new variant neutral protease remarkably lowered in the thermal stability. CONSTITUTION:A variant neutral protease II in which cysteine is substituted with an amino acid not having a SH group in the amino acid sequence of the neutral protease II of Aspergillus oryzae. For example, a variant neutral protease II in which cysteine units at the 6-position and/or the 78-position of the amino acid sequence of the neutral protease II of Aspergillus oryzae are substituted with a neutral amino acid having no SH group (e.g. alanine, serine). A variant neutral protease II CDNA is produced by the site-specific mutation of a neutral protease II CDNA originated from the Aspergillus oryzae, and a microorganism belonging to the genus Saccharomyces is used as a host to produce the variant neutral protease II.
