The invention relates to a device for machining a corneal lens (10), through the stromal face (11). Photoablation radiation (8) produced by a laser (1) is focused by an optical lens (2). A lens (10) holder on which a lens (10) is mounted is driven in rotation by a lathe (5). The lens receives the radiation of the beam (8) at a given defocusing distance (D). An average effect of decreasing the light intensity in the beam (8) is thus obtained, which makes it possible to obtain the desired profile directly.
