<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic toner having a narrow distribution of charge amts. which can stably maintain a proper amt. of charges by constituting the toner of a charge controlling agent comprising a specified grafted polymer, styrene binder resin, and coloring agent. CONSTITUTION:The charge controlling agent used consists of a grafted polymer having a polystyrene main chain containing >50 mol % styrene in the structural monomers, and grafted chains having the skelton expressed by formula I. Or the charge controlling agent consists of this grafted polymer and a polymer expressed by formula II. In formulae I and II, R1 is a hydrocarbon group of 11-17 carbon number, R2 and R3 are independently hydrogen atoms or hydrocarbon groups of 1-8 carbon number, or R2 and R3 connect with each other to form an aromatic ring, R4 is an alkylene group of 1-12 carbon number which may contain an ether coupling, X<-> is an anion, and (n) is an integer 2-100. Then, the toner consists of a styrene-base binder resin containing >=50mol% styrene in the structural monomers, coloring agent and the charge controlling agent above described as the essential components.</p> |
