PURPOSE: To shorten the imaging time by constituting an open MRI magnet having a coil assembly supporting means provided with means pivoting in a pivot coupling means while touching. CONSTITUTION: At the time of imaging a lying patient, the patient is laid in a magnet 2 while facing upward and then a magnet is turned on to generate a field of 0.3-0.5 tesla in a volume of 30 cm at an ununiformity of about 30 ppm. During the imaging process, heat is conducted from a shield 10 and a member 14 to a cryogenic cooler 24 and dissipated. When an operator turns the magnet 2 at the time of imaging the patient while standing, an envelope 12 turns about a roller bearing 112 and the patient walks into the magnet 2 before being imaged. According to the arrangement, imaging can be carried out at high speed while suppressing the possibility that the patient experiences fear of confinement. |
