PURPOSE:To prevent leakage current passing through manifolds during awaiting time for discharge so as to prevent deterioration of battery efficiency in a zinc-bromine battery in which electrolyte is circulated for charge and discharge through a battery stack comprising plural electrode plates and separator plates alternately stacked together. CONSTITUTION:A liquid inlet manifold 4a and a liquid outlet manifold 4b are provided at both end portions of the upper side of each of the electrode plates and each of the separator plates of a battery stack 2. When operation of a pump 5 is stopped during awaiting time for discharge, electrolyte in return piping 3c is substituted by air in the tank 1 and the air is made to flow through the liquid inlet manifold 4a via a check valve 6 and inlet side piping 3a and electrolyte in the liquid inlet manifold 4a and the liquid outlet manifold 4b is returned into the tank 1 by the pressure of the air.
