The present invention relates to a device for locking a cover which is mounted removably on a frame for a manhole or the like. This device is essentially made up of a lever (5) which is mounted articulated on the cover (2) and one branch (12) of which controls a small rod (4) mounted slidingly in and under the cover (2) and capable of interacting with a part (19) of the frame (1) projecting inside this frame.
