A complex enzyme mixt. with cellulolytic main activity, and hemicellulolytic glucanolytic, amylolytic, pectinolytic and proteolytic sub-activities is prepd. using Penicillium janthinellum, by direct inoculation of a prodn. culture with a bran-spore mixt. and with a nutrient medium contg. cereal bran, cellulose and nutrient salts. USE/ADVANTAGE - The concn. enzyme complex is used to cleave cellulosic raw and waste materials, in the (pre)treatment of cotton in the textile industry, to improve food utilisation in animal rearing, to accelerate composting of cellulose materials, and to increase efficiency of processes in the food industry. Enzyme activity and productivity are increased, and the number of prodn. stages is reduced. Cereal bran and cellulose are cheap materials and are used without treatment or hydrolysis. The enzyme mixt. is qualitatively and quantitatively at least equal to mixts. prepd. in known way. Direct inoculation of the prod. culture is possible.
