Eye protector and sound recorder for TV receiver - detect proximity of infrared reflector to screen, and reproduce appropriate visual warning and audible recorded message

A microprocessor (5) controls the infrared emitter (2) and detector (3) directed at a reflecting object (4) within a fixed distance from the TV screen, and addresses recording and reproduction commands to an integrated speech synthesiser and recording circuit (11) operating on digitised (10) output from a microphone (8) and amplifier (9). Digital speech is memorised (12), reconverted to analogue form (13) and amplified (14) to drive a loudspeaker (15). Sound recording, message output and eye protection modes are selected by means of function keys (6). Messages are displayed in colour (7) e.g. for about 10 seconds. ADVANTAGE - Warning is displayed automatically and eye protection is effected for viewers (esp. children) too near the screen.
