Virus suspensions for use as inducers of paramunity (non-specific protection against a wide variety of different infections, toxins and antigens) are inactivated in two stages by increasing the pH then by heating. The suspension is adjusted to pH 8-11 (esp. 9-10), then heated for 40-120 (pref. 60-90) min. at 50-60 (pref. 55-60) deg. C.
