Contact image sensor for facsimile and personal computers - has photodetectors and switches in light-converting blocks wired to prevent cross=talk due to parasitic capacitances

The contact image sensor has light-converting blocks (BL) with unit cells (UC) contg. a photodetector (PD) and a switch (TR). Common lines (CL) carry driving voltages at different values for the photodetectors and the switches. Driving circuits (G) apply the driving voltage in sequence to the common lines for the switches during a preset time interval. In this interval the driving voltage for the photodetectors is carried by all except one line which carries the switch voltage. Data lines (DL) transmit the image data, whereby each data line is connected to all the switches in its associated block. The photodetectors are pref. photodiodes and the switches are pref. thin film transistors. ADVANTAGE - Eliminates cross-talk between metal data and other lines to improve quality.
