X-ray apparatus for simulation and planning of radiotherapy, comprising a frame, a two-legged construction attached to the frame so as to be pivotable about a horizontal axis, said legs pointing away from the frame and one leg, near its free end, carrying an X-ray source and the other leg near its free end carrying an image recording apparatus. In operation, a patient table is provided to position a patient between the X-ray source and the image recording apparatus. The image recording apparatus comprises an elongate X-ray image amplifier (X-ray image intensifier) tube of the proximity- focus type which in operation carries out a scanning run, and an optical system which continuously displays the output image of the elongate X-ray image amplifier tube on a photosensitive device which converts the said output image into electrical form. <IMAGE>
