Use of avarol (I) (or a deriv.), as antioxidant and inhibitor of enzymes involved in synthesis of prostaglendins and leukotrienes, is new. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) is described in DE3427383. Derivs. are described in US4946869. They can be used in treatment of inflammatory systemic disorders and skin disorders, esp. in treatment of rheumatic diseases, autoimmune diseases, Psoriasis vulgaris, atopic dermatitis, Crohn's disease, colitis ulcerosa and inflammation of skin, mucous membranes and the associated blood vessel systems.
