A method of thin-layer chromatograms development by contact of solvent (eluent) with a layer of absorbent located at the bottom on a chromatographic plate, characterised in that eluent in the amount necessary to develop at least one chromatogram is placed in a container of depth 0.5-2 mm, preferably 1 mm covered with a slidable lid resting on the edges of the container, whereas the plate with the absorber is placed slidable at the level equal to the level of edges of the container with eluent, next the plate with the absorber is shifted to the eluent container contacting its edge with eluent, the process of chromatogram development is conducted by known methods.2. A chamber for thin-layer chromatograms development containing a solvent container (eluent) and a chromatographic plate, characterised in that it has a vertical container (2) of eluent of depth 0.5-2 mm, preferably 1 mm of a slight elevation of the bottom on the side of the chromatographic plate (4), covered by a glass slidable plate (1), of width equal to the width of the chromatographic plate (4) and of the length lesser than the length of the eluent container (2), preferably 5 mm, whereas the chromatographic plate (4) is located slidably at a distance 3-5 mm from the container (2) on the edges (6) of the height equal to the height of edges of the container (2), and the entirety is preferably located in one casing.<IMAGE>
