The invention relates to a method of producing breaking chips when turning workpieces by means of a turning-tool feed rate varying in the course of the rotation of the workpiece. An improved surface pattern is to be achieved as well as, despite reliable and short chip breakage, the independence from precise phase relationships known in the prior art to obtain a chip breakage. This is achieved by the fact that the feed rate of the cutting edge of the tool is changed at time intervals for a short time relative to the time required for a rotation of the workpiece at least once, at least in respect of its scalar amount. |
