A cold and/or heat pumping process employs a binary mixt. of more volatile (13) and less volatile (10) fluid fractions in a resorption circuit including a resorber (5) for liquefying the more volatile fraction by heat release, an expansion element (6), an ejector (1) for evporating the more volatile fraction by heat absorption, a pressure raising pump (2) for the less volatile fraction (10) and a compressor (4) for the evapn. more volatile fraction (13). The pressure of the more volatile fraction (13) is increased by a liq. jet compressor (4) employ in the pressurised less volatile fraction (10) as the power jet (12) for suction and compression of the more volatile fraction vapour. The compressor (4) causes mixing of the power jet (12) and the more volatile fraction (13) resulting in impulse equalisation by mechanical work transfer from the power jet (12) to the more volatile fraction (13). ADVANTAGE - The process can be operated at lower pressure, provides intensive mixing of the two fractions for process enhancement and allows a wide choice of pressure, temp. and concn. of the fractions.
