摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device for a high-pressure discharge lamp allowing improvement of energy efficiency to light at relatively low voltage. SOLUTION: This power supply device 10 for a high-pressure discharge lamp has an inverter circuit 12 for generating a PWM-modulated alternating current having a prescribed frequency; a transformer 13 having a primary input winding to which an output of the inverter circuit 12 is inputted, and a controller 28 for detecting an output state of a load connected to the controller 28 through a secondary side of the transformer 13, and controlling the inverter circuit 12 to keep a current and/or a voltage of the load constant. The secondary side of the transformer 13 is provided with a resonant capacitor 34 resonating with leakage reactance in a view from the secondary side of the transformer 13. By making the capacitor 34 resonate with the PWM-modulated wave or an integer multiple of the wave to generate a high voltage, a discharge lamp 35 in the load can be turned on.
