A thermal transfer ink sheet withstanding repeated uses thereof and provided with a thermal transfer ink layer partially transferrable in the direction of thickness of, and placed on, a substrate, which is characterized in that said ink layer contains a wax compound and a pigment having a polar group as major ingredients for permitting repeated printing even in the indirect thermal transfer method.
