A system for equipment control comprises a plurality of equipment units (11, 12, 17, 18) and actuator units (13, 14, 15, 16). These units are linked by a common communication channel 10, for example a wired bus. Each of the units (40, fig 2) has a unique address and further associated with a programmable memory for storing therein an event table (45). The event table (45) comprises event fields (47), and associated address fields (48) and instruction fields (49). When the unit (40) changes state - called an event - addresses of other units and corresponding instructions are retrieved from the event table and transmitted to said other units via the common communication channel (10). The transmitted instructions cause the corresponding other units to change state, for example to be switched on or off.

|
