<p>In a solid state image capture apparatus comprising a solid state image sensor having photodetectors and charge transfer means including vertical transfer portions, an optical shutter means is provided to the solid state image sensor whereby the shutter means is open during a light receiving period and the shutter means is shut during charge read out and charge transfer periods, thereby to produce an image signal output having improved signal-to-noise ratio in the still video mode.
