The surface properties of materials such as natural and synthetic fiber, plastic, etc. are improved by (1) plasma polymerizing hexafluoropropene onto the surface of fiber or plastic and (2) forming thin film having C-F bond onto the surface to give a hydrophobic property and to prevent decoloring and contaminating the mold by imigration of dyestuff, pigment or additive. The dyestuff is a natural or synthetic dyestuff dyeable with fiber. The pigment and additive used in coloring plastic are added to give an excellent weather resistance and stability.
