PURPOSE:To provide a heat-resistant thermoplastic resin foam excellent in heat resistance, mechanical strength and dimensional stability. CONSTITUTION:With (A) 100 pts.wt. resin pellet composed of 20 to 90wt.% polyphenylene ether resin and 80 to 10wt.% polyalkenyl aromatic vinyl compound, (B) 10 to 200 pts.wt. polyalkenyl aromatic vinyl compound pellet is blended. To the resultant mixture, (C) a heat decomposition type chemical foaming agent (e.g. sodium bicarbonate) is added in an amount of 1-10 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the total amount of (A) and (B). The obtained mixture is subjected to melt kneading and extrusion foaming by using an extruder, thus producing a resin foam composed of 10 to 80wt.% polyphenylene ether resin and 90 to 20wt.% polyalkenyl aromatic vinyl compound. |
