PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound which is an optically active dipeptide, an optically active amino acid, etc., useful as a synthetic intermediate for medicines and agricultural chemicals according to simple operation by carrying out new reaction using an inexpensive and readily handleable samarium iodide as a reducing agent. CONSTITUTION:Samarium iodide expressed by the formula SmI2 is reacted with an oxime compound expressed by formula I (R<1> to R<5> are H, alkyl or aryl; R<1> and R<2> or R<4> and R<5> may mutually be bonded to form a ring) in the presence of an alcohol expressed by the ROH (R is hydrocarbon) to afford an amino group-containing compound expressed by formula II, which is then made to react, with an acyl halide compound expressed by the formula R<11>X (R<11> is acyl; X is halogen) to provide an amino group-containing compound expressed by formula III. N-(D)-Alanyl-(L)-proline methyl ester, N-(D)-alanyl-(L)- alanylpiperidinoamide, etc., are obtained by this method. |
